CHAMP was the most powerful but humble Rottweiler we have ever known. He was
our son and a very important part of our lives; CHAMP has taught us so much. He
has left a legacy that will make history. We always will love you CHAMP.

Champ will always be remembered as one who set the standard for a life of

Champ made a special place in the hearts of every one who knew him. He
enriched each and everyone's life and will always be a part of the integrity
that makes us better people. The kindness in his eyes was the true path to the
kindness in his heart. His greatest gift to us was the love and compassion that
we all had learned from him. Beverly Brimacomb, DVM |

A TRIBUTE TO A GREAT DOG
The first time I saw Champ was at the Ohio National
Specialty in the early 1990's. He had just finished his Championship. He caught
my eye in the ring because he had great ring presence about him. A year or so
after that, I heard that Manson and Evie were interested in buying this dog.
Manson had issues about the name, Champ. I told him to look at the dog and then
call me back if he still had issues about the name. The name Champ was very
fitting for this dog. After seeing him, Manson agreed.
I judged this dog in 1997 at the Westminster Kennel
Club with an entry of over fifty Champions. When it was over I went and had
coffee at the Penn Hotel and two judges who had observed my judging of the breed
came and sat down with me. They asked me for the name of the dog who I had given
BOB. "Why, it was 007." I said. They said that there was no dog entered with
that name and they had never heard of a Rottweiler named 007. I said to picture
this...we're all invited to a cocktail party and we call came dressed casually
and in walks Sean Connery in a tux, who by the way, was the best James Bond of
all time, this is what THIS dog looked like when he walked into my ring.
He was truly a goodwill ambassador for our breed: In
and out of the ring. I will miss Champ because whenever I stopped at Manson and
Evie's Shrunken Tree Farm he used to come and sit with me at dinner. He always
said "Hello". Good bye old friend. The name CHAMP certainly was fitting, for
there shall never be another.

I knew in my heart that Champ could not live forever but you can never really
get ready for death. I am so proud that we actually had the opportunity to have
a dog like Champ and have his kids and grandkids.
I will never forget the first day Eve and I saw Champ, now you know we don’t
often agree on things but one thing was for sure we both fell in love with
Champ. I wanted him so bad and I knew Eve wanted him even more. I actually saw
the wheels start to spin in her head and I knew right there and then that Champ
would be ours. Sure as a heart attack Manson felt the same way when he flew to
see this incredible boy and he made the best deal of all our lives.
Some of my fondest moments revolve around life w/Champ. Wow did we have fun
w/him...I feel we did every thing right by Champ and he did right by us. Champ
has brought me so much joy and happiness I will never forget him. I am so proud
and happy to have his grandchildren and great grandchildren....I find Champ in the sky every night and I tell him how much I love him and
miss him...

...Kind an gentle, he was wonderful. I am lucky to have 2 of his daughters,
who also have the kindness and gentleness that makes them also wonderful. He
improved his breed by being. Diane Browning |

I will long remember how moving it was to watch Manson and 15+ yr Champ go
around the ring at the 2007 National, and later back at your booth to see and
hear Champ join in the dog chorus that started. What an incredible life Champ
has had; and now with Dr. Waters continued research, there is hope that Champ
will offer science some incredible revelations. Liz Wertz |

I am so very sorry to hear about Champ. I know how much he meant to you.
Everyone that has seen him over the years was enchanted with him. He was truly a
wonderful dog. Though they're never old enough, I am at least grateful that
since you got him when he was older, you were still able to have a good number
of years of memories.

Eve and Manson, there are no words. Just feel a hug. I understand how much it
hurts. I lost Anuschka January 06 and it seems like yesterday. I am so proud
that you shared Champ with us at the Nationals. Know we care!

Champ lived up to his name to the end of his days. It was awesome to see the
standing ovation Champ got has he went around the ring. I don't think there were
many dry eyes! God Speed Champ.

Terri and I want to send our most sincere condolences to you. We were
fortunate enough to purchase a Champ daughter from you several years ago and
loved her dearly. Champ is definitely a “Hall of Famer”. He will be missed most
by you but by the breed as well. You did a great job with him and I hope you
will find some comfort in knowing you gave him a great life and that together
you accomplished so much. Just know that you are in our prayers. God bless!

...I am so sorry to hear about Champ. Champ was a great dog! He had alot of
HEART, and was loved by many. Some day, we'll see him again, and he'll be
healthy and happy and act like a youngster. That'll be the most wonderful day to
behold! Praise God, for giving such a sweet and loving dog to you for so many
years... Betty Singh |

I just wanted to send my condolences on the loss of Champ. He was truly a
great one. I remember seeing him for the first time when he was young, and I was
so impressed. He was almost jumping over Bert Halsey's head. I know he will
always be in your heart. Renee Massengill |

Sorry to
hear about champ. I know how sad you must be. I got to meet him in his older years and he was still so beautiful and smart. I
guess he was "just" 14 at the time.
I am glad they are doing all this research.

I am so sorry to hear about Champ. I know how tough it is to lose one, but
what a great time to celebrate his life too. The bible says that dogs go to

We are overwhelmed with sadness hearing of Champ's death. Even though we only
met him once, we knew he really was "beyond special". Our connection with Champ
came soon after we got our first rottie and I was trying to learn as much as I
could at an obedience school with our (then) puppy. One day a classmate, and
fellow rottie owner, asked me if I wanted some of their Rottweiler magazines
that they had saved for a while. Not knowing such a magazine even existed, I was
thrilled to take them and after obedience class I couldn't wait to get home and
read them. I poured over all the magazines and then I saw a picture of this dog
called Champ. Maybe I didn't know a lot about show dogs, but my old horse show
instincts said this one was an "Oh my God". I just knew it. I was captivated by
him. He had it all. You could just tell. Later I would find out something about
Champ that would put me over the moon...that he was a grandfather of our own
beloved puppy who died of cancer at the age of 5.
So we too feel this incredible attachment and affection towards Champ. But
after years in horses we know in our hearts that it's true in the dog world
too..... there are once in a lifetime specials.... and good as the others get,
they will never outdo the oh-so-rare GREAT ones. There's no denying Champ's
greatness. We will always admire his achievements but we will also remember a
character who never got too famous to put his toys away!

Don and I are truly sorry to hear that Champ has passed on. It is never easy
to say good-bye to someone you love, his memory will be in your heart and those
who he touched, forever. Knowing that he lived a great life and did so much to
help our breed and science should help you and everyone get through this
difficult time.
We feel privileged to have met him and blessed to share his spirit with our Miss
Mattie. Thank you for this precious gift and for sharing Champ with the world.

When I was looking for a new pup from a breed I knew well, I was drawn to
Manson and Evie's breeding programs through Dog World Magazine. They sent me a
tape of Champ at play, stating he was unstoppable with a ball. And that was
that!!
We waited patiently at the airport in new jersey after a 5 hour drive and
watched as our new pup was wheeled from the plane. That was the beginning. Since
then I can say that Orion has proved a true champ offspring. Although never
shown, he has been nothing but incredible. It has been always so obvious that he
comes from true blue royalty!! He is constantly playing with an unimaginable
stamina level. Orion is the consummate family guard, and has always shown an
amazing intelligence level.
Our family thanks "Champ" for just being, and providing us with many years of
laughter and great companionship. I can only hope someday our government will
lift the senseless decree, banning this and other breeds, so we can have our own
champ offspring.
Our heart felt condolences to Eve, Manson and all of the people whose life he
touched for their loss.

Wendell and I were so sorry to hear of the loss of your wonderful Champ. Our
hearts go out to you at this sad time. We truly feel your pain. It has almost
been a year since I called you looking for a puppy to ease the loss of our 4 1/2
year old Rottweiler, Molly. We were just looking for a pet but you only had one
show quality puppy left and Wendell and I were about to grieve ourselves to
death. So I took a deep breath and said, ok....WE WANT HER... Thank you
so much for entrusting her to our care and know she will always know our love.
This is so much longer than I intended but I want to close with this poem that
is on my daughter's headstone. I think it is fitting for our Rottweiler children
as well.
"When tomorrow starts without me
Don't think we're far apart.
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here in your heart."

Words cannot say how deeply we feel for your loss. I feel we have witnessed a
legacy that will remain unmatched for generations to come. To say Champ was
remarkable only touches the surface of what an amazing creature and standard
bearer of the breed he was. It’s not the awards and adulation. It’s not the
versatility in show and work championships he amassed. It is the character and
confirmation he passed on to all of us that has the pleasure to have been
blessed with one of his children...
For what Champ gave to his daughter, Peke; she continues to give to all of us
that enjoy her love and affection as well as her loyalty to this family.
Evie, you and Manson were so lucky. To have shared your life with the finest the
breed has ever offered is truly a gift that was offered from heaven above. Count
your blessings. You know what it is like to have shared something that all the
money in the world can’t buy. Perfection in it’s purest form.
Peke is sad tonight. We have said a prayer for you and Manson. It is all that we
can offer for what you have done for us. I will never forget your for allowing
us to have Peke, daughter of her beloved dad Champ.

We are so sorry to hear about your loss. His legacy has brought joy to many
people. A year ago, our loss of Bart brought us to you. It was almost a year ago
that we first saw Champ. He was a magnificent Rotty, even at 15years. I often
wondered how he was doing and appreciated your updates. Chloe is part of the joy
that he has given. I am happy to report that she is doing great. She loves to
walk between our legs. Wonder where she got that from!

I would like to thank you for letting me know about Champ. He was the most

I am so sorry to hear of Champ's passing. He was born three weeks after my
Rottweiler, Manfred, who passed away three years ago after an amazing 12 years
as my boy. I had been holding on to him knowing that Champ was still alive; now
I've lost another piece of him... :(
From his titles, awards, and progeny, it is plain to see that Champ was an
exceptional dog. It is doubtful that in our lifetimes there will ever be a dog
who will accomplish so much, and have such a long life on this earth. In the
ring, and in his progeny, it would be apparent to even "non-Rottweiler" people
that Champ had it all. But your letter shows that Champ had more than a great
bloodline, working attitude, and conformational 'perfection'. He had YOU!!! So
indeed, he had it ALL!
God's Blessings to you in your time of loss, Rich Whybrew |

We are so sad and sorry for your loss. It can be so hard during these times

Kind regards

Just wanted to send our condolences to you and your whole family. Champ was
the "perfect" Rottweiler. We feel so blessed to have seen him show in person.

Our sympathies are with you. We have one of Champs 'pet' daughters from his
1998 litter with Pia. We love Darby as our first born. We have received so many
compliments on our girl's beautiful, soft coat and her loving disposition. Thank
you for allowing us to be a part of your family. We should all be so lucky to
have our Rotts for 16 years. Again, our sympathies.

My deepest heart felt condolences to you both. I found this very nice message
on behalf of a dear, dear friend, Mr. Champ (Hammy as Ana would say) It comes
from all the Champ kids that know and Donna Barber in Canada. Champ will always
remain a legacy in out hearts. He was a one of a kind dog never to be forgotten.
May peace and god be with you in this very difficult time.Your Friend,
Nancy
I'm Still Here
Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.
I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.
I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

I am sorry to hear about the passing of your son, “Champ”. While never
getting to know him I get to see him everyday through the eyes of his grandson,
“STORM”. What he has accomplished will probably never be accomplished again and
I am very proud to have his grandson. I am very interested in the “CHAMP
FOUNDATION FOR EXCEPTIONAL LONGEVITY". Having lost my two sons to cancer and my
last to osteosarcoma, I am very interested and willing to make a donation in the
honor all three of my sons, “Nitro”, “Thundr” and of course my newest member of
my family “Storm”. God Bless, Eve and Manson and of course your son “CHAMP”.

I just found out about "Champ"...I am sitting here typing with tears strolling down my face and a heavy heart- I feel your loss - although I didn't have the good fortune to meet "Champ", I own a 9 year old son by him (Can.Ch. DonRed Vance Vistaler Land, TT, CGC), therefore I do feel the loss.
Everything that you wrote about "Champ" was so beautiful. Especially the "just looking at him and feeling the love"...I feel that every day that "Vance" looks at me. He is the most wonderful dog I have ever had in my life. Powerful, handsome, expressive and the most gentle soul. I feel so proud to have a son of "Champ".
I most definitely want to know more about the Foundation - I lost my rottweiler bitch 2 years ago at the young age of 8 years old due to osteosarcoma - I pray that Vance has a long and wonderful life just like his father.
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
