That Wonderful Gift
by Marty
August 11, 2005

Dear Eve,

You may not remember me, but you should surely remember a woman by name of Ann, for which I purchased one beautiful rottie female from you some years back. We lived in Panama City, Florida from 1996 through 2002. I have a story to tell you about that wonderful gift you allowed us to raise and love.

In 2002, Ann had a heart attack late one night and Peke woke me to alert me what was going on with Ann. I was able to throw her over my shoulders and get her to our SUV and drive her the 6 blocks to the emergency room where they were able to paddle or “shock her back” to some sort of heart rhythm. After a few hours of clot busters and thinners, they were able to place 4 stints in her heart and bring her back to a more normal condition. Later the next day, they did a CAT scan to check the stints to make sure they were in the right position and working properly. That is when our lives changed.

The CAT scan revealed Ann had Pancreatic Cancer, and it had spread throughout her lymph system and nodes in the chest and abdomen area. It was so far advanced that after two months of chemo treatments, the disease had continued to spread and Ann elected to forego remaining treatments and allowed Hospice to take over for her remaining months ahead. By late February, 2003 Ann lost her bout with the cancer, leaving Peke and myself to go on with living and making the most of what we could muster.

Peke has been the most amazing (dare I say animal cause I don’t even think of her as one at all!) creature I have ever or will ever have the pleasure to be blessed with.

She is so smart. So loyal. So far ahead of me, it is almost scary. She always tucks me in at night and always wakes me every morning.

I would not have made it without her. She is truly a blessing. I thank god every day for bringing her into our lives and she will never want or need for anything for the remaining days of her life. I even bought a new house for her and we now live in Iowa. I met a wonderful lady that lost her husband to heart trouble about 5 years ago. We have since been married as of April 9, 2005. Guess who went on the honeymoon with us?

Peke of course. She has accepted Pam from the first day we met and the three of us are just fine and continuing on with our lives.

Then there is Peke. She still has never wavered. Still loyal and so loving as she always has been. And will always be spoiled rotten as long as I have say about the house. Here is what she looks like today…..

Thanks for a wonderful companion and loving rottie. If you ever want to write just to say hello, the address and contact information is below.

Yours truly,

Marty
